Asap is a four-letter made-up word that injects energy and meaning every time it's used.

If somebody, in an email, say, were to write “as soon as possible, please”, that would seem altogether more convivial, more collegiate, more collaborative.

But that simple acronym, “asap”, always conveys something else.

And the one thing it’s definitely not about is saving time.

So what is it about, really?
